Letter W

I was having a hard time thinking of a snack to take to preschool tomorrow for the letter W. So I came up with watermelon cookies. They turned out pretty cute. If anyone else has to do snack on letter W day this is how I did them:2 cups sugar
1 cup sour cream
3 eggs
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 shortening
5 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla1 tsp
almond extract (I usually don't use this)
1/4 tsp salt
In bowl, combine sugar, sour cream, eggs, butter & shortening. Beat until light and fluffy. Add flour, baking powder, soda, vanilla, almond extract & salt. Beat until soft dough forms. Tint 1/3 of dough with green food color. Tint remaining 2/3 dough with red and yellow food colors. Shape red dough into roll, 2 inches in diameter and 5 1/2 inches long. Gently roll green dough 1/4 inch thick on lightly floured surface into rectangle 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches. Place red dough on short end of green dough; roll up. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate about 4 hours or until chilled. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Cut roll into 1/4 inch slices. Cut each slice in half. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle chocolate over slices to resemble seeds. Bake 6-8 minutes.
